I and it seems many others here are really big fans of your TOME work, so that's something to think about, but as you said, do what you want. It's your life, no one else can tell you how to live it.

Speaking of, were you ever considering taking up TOME professionally? As in, animating, marketing it to TV studios, etc.?

I can see your frustration there. You've been working on your own original project, designed from the ground up with a full team. that takes alot. Not as many people recognize that as much as a majority of users coming in just for Gaming parodies, well done or not.

I think you should still work on Tome personally, I actually have a similar project that I've been working on and has been planned for five years, tried to do a comic, but it just feels like it needs to be animated. So I've been teaching myself how. I still have that project in sight, while working on these others... I enjoy the project alot too, creating new characters and practically watching them play out in the situations they creat.

I don't think I could find myself tossing the project aside completely. and if you feel that way about TOME, as you practically stated, you shouldn't either.

Kirb, I sure love TOME! Sometimes when i read your progres i get so exited that the last time when i got notice that TOME episode 3 came out, I jump everywhere in my house and i broke a cup ._.
Right now im looking for careers, some work like you r doing now, and now im making an animation that i always wanted to do. And when im lazy and i dont want to work, i just look at your progress and i say "NO! I CANT GIVE UP!!!"
So, what i say is that you should keep making TOME and advance more in your work. There are MANY people making stupid animations about videogames (and is not bad.) But you are the only one who is making such work!!! WHO ELSE CAN KEEP MAKING SUCH ANIMATION LIKE YOU?!?!?!? YOU R THE ONLY ONE!!!

yeah thats the right spirit!
keep the TOMES comming!

You could simply give up and go into business.

That sounds like fun.

Kirb....
I know that TOME may not be that profitable yet, or even that well known, but it's still just a seed now. If you quit nurturing it and focus more on video game cartoons it's wither and die before it can bloom into one of the best roses in the animation industry. I know it'll be hard, and I know money will be tight, and I also know that you want to appease your fans, but if you go back to making Video game cartoons, you may never come back. Besides how am I going to prove my original series is as good if not better than yours if you stop before I finish my first episode?

I just want you to excel Kirb and reach for something other than a quick buck.

I wanted to ask a favor. Would you possibly put a character that I made in TOME? I don't mean a background character, but a person who might fight nylocke, alpha, or your character. If do consider it, please tell me.

Also, I'm flad your showing commitment to your series, unlike a lot of other flash and sprite artists.

Yours is an intellectual conflict.
1.Ask yourself what you WANT to do. (that's TOME obviously)
2.Then see what you CAN do. (You CAN animate)
3.Find out what's preventing the CAN from matching the WANT. (IF it's money then waiting is inevitable)
4.Then change the CAN. (Get out there and bust some heads)
Although this problem is a lot more complicated then four steps, thats a nice outline.

Good luck, Kirb.

well, i myself i'm not an artist(tough i expect to be a writer some day) is, at the moment, do your best to get a job in animation, it doesn't matter how small it is, and if they say no, keep trying with more energt. It will be a hard way, but you and your art will evolve. Now, i'm not saying nothing about stop TOME, since i understand what is to have a..let's call it "baby", that you want to work with all your heart until it is a reality. what i'm saying is the opposite, give it all your love. But, also, to not wait until something comes, to go and try to find your way into professional animation, even if it is a little one, it doesn't matter how many times people reject you.
about the money? try some commisions or try to sell Tome dvd's(with some extras). Any incoming can be helpful.
so, at the end, what i'm saying? i'm saying to continue searching for a job and working on tome with all your will, why? because just doing Tome, just doing a simple valentine flash, just doing a music video of mario, helps you to evolve your art, and if your art is good, then you would eventually get a job.
Now, i'm not sure if you already know that or not. Or if it is a good advise at all(wrtier, not artist), and i understand how you feel. But i believe that you MUST embrace those feeling and try your best in developing your career as an artist, even if you are rejected at the start, and i think your work with Tome will help you doing that.
And if this advise, for any chance, helps you with you career, i would wish to for you to remember the users who enjoyed your work, and the user who wrote it.

Things are tough for a lot of people right now, but all of your fans are rooting for you and hope that you will do well in the world. Keep at it, and hopefully things will get better. :)

well, i like tomes reboot, why not sell T-shirts? or would that be too "Team four star"? sorry i really have no espertise in this kind of thing but i support you no matter what you choose because you kick ass :)

first off youre an amazing animator youre a damn good artist your voice acting is top notch and your ability to write a story is more than decent TTA/TOME reveals your desire to tell a serious dramatic tale of epic proportions throwing in some comedy while portraying it through an online game Parody Rangers/Nin10doh! shows that you know how to work well with comedy as well to the point where people bust a gut laughing and Kirb-Stomp shows youre willing to take a hit and that youre also good at working with others and you have worked in creating some awesome collaborations to show for it you can do something that not alot of people in this world are capable of and there are people who are looking for your kind of talent maybe its not big in the older generation but you have got a HUGE support line from this generation who will BECOME the main generation I know a ton of people who complain about there being "nothing worth watching" on tv most of the time but here the audiance is booming! and when people like you get inspired to do something you work some real magic be it original or using pre existing elements you have a special talent youve had it all your life! And everyone here and anyone who has seen your work knows it! and somewhere out there there is just someone dying to cash in on you! but until that time comes all you can do is keep practicing and continue to improve and improve and improve! theres no limit to what can be accomplished once you get your head in the game

so keep working until you see that one chance or get that one spark of inspiration then you grab it! then you go and dye your hair blonde spike it all up let yourself get all fired up to the point where you start screaming and flaring with a bright flaming aura and then see the doctor because that would just be too damn cool not to ask about okay? we are ALL pulling for you ya freakin marshmallow all grown up!

as for whats next ^_^ take baby steps in any direction.... see where it leads you

I don't know if you actually read these, but believe it or not, I know exactly what you are going through. I myself am doing animations (although I have nothing completed atm) and really want to do this stuff as a career, as well as VO and VA work, and writing/story development for cartoons/movies/etc.

Do what you love I don't know if this helps at all but I heard youtube (I know flame as you must idc) has partnerships you could set up and they would pay you to make these videos. If you don't want to do that everyone that I have shown this series [TOME/TTA] can see this hitting the big time as not only flash videos, but a manga/comic book series and actual series made for TV (either Anime or Traditional Western).

I have been watching your stuff for years and just recently made a newgrounds account so I could review and create. I know its not much or whether you would even be interested, but if you need stuff like additional VA, assistance on animation and maybe story ideas. I would gladly provide whatever help I can. Keep your chin up Kirb you got this. We all have faith in you and want to provide you with as much as help, feedback, etc., as you will allow. You have a gift, don't let it go to waste. You are my inspiration.

I'm sorry for the double post but I just realized you are barely a year older than me (I will be 23 this year). Now I know how you definitely feel about the whole job, career, out of school thing!

If game parodies is the other option, just stick to what you got at the momment.

Or make more like MartinTaunts, that was hilarious.

Look, if you're not happy with your job or future job choices, don't do those. There's no point in having a full-time job that you're not happy with. If TOME really is what you enjoy doing, then make a career out of it. It might not be well known right now, but that's because it just started. Over time, more popular internet people will talk about it, and more people will come to see it. If you're creative enough to come up with something like TOME, then you are certainly creative enough to make money off it. And the little things, like not having the bodies proportional, are not that important. If it really bothers you that much, than take a class; we can wait if it means that the animation will be better. Just do what you want to do, but don't go back to video game parodies like you did before. The only reason I watched them was because I really liked TTA, and I thought " Well, these were made by Kirbopher, the guy who did TTA, so they've gotta be good." And that's pretty much all I have to say. I hope this will be of help to you.

Look, I don't know much about animation or anything like that, but me and my friends are trying to get a storyboard for a manga together and I'm the artist for it. I've never read a manga and constantly disagree with the ideas they come up with... but your videos are a great inspiration. They help me to create an idea of what I want the type of character I'm designing to be. Now, I'm not copying you or anything, but all I'm saying is that you have real talent. I look at this and think "Wow, if Pokemon can survive an airing, this stuff can thrive." Note that I said SURVIVE an airing, your stuff is a lot more entertaining, original (they just keep doing the same crap, and it's getting worse), and definitely not as annoying (not that TOME IS annoying). Quite frankly, I could see this as a t.v. series, but you should make up your mind as to what rating it would be (you kind of switch ratings). Also, you're not a bad artist, you're a really good artist. Now don't get a big head, I sometimes do and end up being an ass and not improving. But you're drawings are very good and are well above acceptable. One thing I would look into is giving the virtual world of TOME some worth, it's kinda just a game and I don't see why someone would play it all day for no reason. Maybe you could make it a sort of Social Network with advertisements etc. (that's how Facebook makes its money). Just an idea. Good luck, Namaste.

Hi Kirbopher,

As pretty much everyone else said, you should just do whatever you want to do. Working on stupid parodies that you can't pour your heart into (yeah, cheesy, right?) is pretty pointless if you ask me. (Though most people wouldn't.) I have no idea how hard it is to create cartoons and animations - all I can do is write stories. One of the reasons I joined NG is so I could find ways to become a good animator and make original flashes. You were one of my inspirations. :D (Cheesy. Yes. I'm female. Don't blame me.) I'm a huge fan of TTA/TOME and I was from the beginning! It made me sad when you discontinued it and now I'm here, seeing that you've rebooted the series. I remember a few years ago when I was into TTA I'd try designing my own characters... But they all failed, of course, since I'm a really bad artist. (Again. Cheese. It's fun.)
Anyway, my point is, if you have something that you really enjoy doing, you should do it. There's nothing better as a job than to do what you love and it's better to wait it out and see if you can make money off of TOME. If it doesn't work, you can do your random parodies (hopefully another one with LittleKuriboh...) until you have money to provide for yourself and just loop that a few times if it still doesn't work.

I hope you see my point and the points of the many other random users that wrote comments for you! And if this wasn't inspiration enough, I'm going to rally the troops, storm to wherever you live and hogtie you until you make the next episode. If THAT'S not enough... Let's just say the next step isn't pretty.

Happy animating! :D

Your parodies are good. TOME is amazing- unlike parodies, it brings originality and thought to the table. if you need cash, maybe do some side project parodies? but don't give up on TOME, it's brilliant! :(
