I disagree with all of your girl arguments completely. My characters are mostly women or men with very feminine qualities and I use the fact that they're women to my advantage, and I try to avoid the "I wanna be a guy" plot point as much as possible. I create and use the characters to the advantage of the story instead of my personal desires! That is usually more important I think.
I think that was mainly Chris' view on most girl characters put into that position a la Disney films. For myself, in creating them anyway, since my number of male characters outweigh my females, every girl I create I try to make something really unique and cool about them. I try to treat them the same as I would with any boy character but specifically try to give them a quality that makes them stands out from the others, since they have just as much potential.
I like the idea of you guys having a podcast about discussing animation (or just ideas in general really) and this time I won't complain about any conflicting opinions since as someone in your podcast said, people have different opionions (that and you're not actually going to read this anyway)
