Holiday Updates!

Posted by Kirbopher - December 25th, 2011

Merry Christmas everybody!

December was a bit of a rough month for me, but I got over the couple hurdles that popped up and got back into the holiday spirit just in time. Went to see TinTin with Mike Luckas a couple days ago, had a lovely Christmas Eve with one side of the family playing Apples to Apples (my Dad is a dirty cheater and won) and then had Christmas morning with another side of the family followed by a great dinner. Got one week left AND my birthday's comin' up!

Couple updates on things. First and most importantly, Martin "LittleKuriboh" Billany and Marianne Miller are doing a charity drive for the wonderful Dan Green. Here's a video explaining what the deal is behind "Card Games for Charity":

Martin and Marianne are holding a large assortment of great auctions for people to bid on with all donations going directly to Dan Green and his beautiful newborn twins. As someone who's met Dan Green before and can say he's one of the nicest people you'll ever meet, I'm personally paying contribution to this by offering an art commission as one of the auctions. If you're interested in bidding for mine, you can find it right here. The rest of the auctions (including the chance to get a Littlekuriboh-style personal song parody of your choice) can be found in the video description. Any and all donations to Dan would be appreciated, so anything you could offer even if it's only a couple dollars, you can send here.

In other news, I'm nearly finished with TOME Episode 02 and it will hopefully be finished in the next week before we say farewell to 2011. I've been making announcements on the Facebook page, but we have three very cool special guests joining us: Jon Jafari (creator of "JonTronShow" on normalboots.com), Lawrence Simpson (MasakoX, host of "AniFile") and Alison Fanelli (Ellen Hickle on "The Adventures of Pete & Pete) will be voicing new characters in the upcoming episode. Thank you all for the viewership and feedback on Episode 01. Starting from after Episode 02 I plan on making some changes to the presentation style of the show, but I also think that 02 has a much stronger and funner story than the pilot. Look forward to that very soon!

Also, I've continually forgot to mention, I've been doing some more voiceover stuff and just recently got into another anime series! "Bakuman", created by the writer/artist duo that made "Death Note" and "Hikaru no Go" is coming out from Media Blasters. Volume 1 has been released (with the first seven episodes) and Volume 2 is coming out early next year. I play Yujiro Hatori, one of the Editors as Shonen Jack. It's a big personal honor for me to be part of this show, since I was a fan of the original comic in college and never thought I'd have the opportunity to be part of it! All artists, especially those that have dabbled in comics, need to check this series out, as the hardship of the two main characters is definitely something you can relate to. Also fans of Berserk will recognize a LOT of the English dub cast.

Lastly, I plan on releasing "Balancing Act" to the public soon, more than likely it'll be up before the end of the year too...maybe even on my birthday. ;]

Hope everyone had a marvelous holiday, now I'm gonna go back to playing Frozen Can-...I mean work.

Balancing act is definitely going to put tome far down the bar in shame.
sorry kirb, but this is more entertaining what with cynical sarcastic remarks and exagerated anatomical expression.

When is your birthday?

New Years Eve!

@VidGameDudee
Woah woah woah. Even though I'm positive balancing act will be good, that doesn't mean it's gonna make TOME bad. We've only seen the trailer so you have no actual reason to put TOME to shame. shame on you.

Anyway, It's good that your helping Dan Green, Kirb :)

@Crack

You are correct, just seeing the traileer alone does not provide enough proof for me to make such a quick claim.
Thing is though, i have seen previous artworks leading up to this that he has posted on deviantart for a good long while and also another fact i wish to bring up is the repetitive mouth movement in Tome just puts me off; the stillness of each stance, though i do like some of the more fighting sporadic sprawls, it just lacks that type of life that feels draining to me, as if i'm loosing some momentum when a swing rocks back and forth.

but even though in my defense you are still correct and therefore i appreciate your counter critique, thank you for reminding me that.

You got the voice job as Hattori?! That's fantastic! Bakuman is a manga I really enjoy, so I'll definitely look forward to hearing what you can do.

Eiji Niizuma's editor, not the main editor, just to establish. Their similar last names cause some confusion. ;]

Must say, tome is a very interesting series so far, set up like it is a game in many ways while being original. will we ever see the characters outside their gaming profiles (what they look like in real life)?

Happy early birthday, Kirbopher! I can't wish you that on your birthday 'cuz I'll be on vacation. Sorry man!

Also, I know that it's already all full, but I'd really like to help with the voices or whatever. I'd just like to help and be part of the process.

Funny, my b-day is the 21st. Winter solstice.

Also 3 days before xmas eve....

Or at least it should be winter solstice... >.>

Bakuman is confusing because bakugan.

Yeah it is.

THAT I would totally watch. I still say your action scenes could use some work, but that teaser already shat on TOME. Quality>Quantity.

@VidGameDude

I must be your opposite because I loved everything about TOME. I loved ow it really felt like a video game, which it's supposed to.

you should make balancing act: brit edition where everyone is a cockney, the restaurant is a pub and the pizza is fish n' chips

Fuck yes.

Both New Years Eve and your birthday! What a day it will be!

I was never really a fan of your work, but I'm glad you're planning on changing the graphics in TOME, because, no offense, but in the first episode and in the short, they practically made my eyes bleed. I hope you'll actually get around to lip-syncing and have the dialogue scenes to not just be two MCs in the front of the screen with a text box in the center, because, shit, that was just awful.

But The Balancing Act actually seems to be more like my style of animation, and it looks at least moderately-enjoyable this time. I somewhat look forward to it.

Take care, and good luck.

New Years Eve, huh? Well then Happy Early Birthday!

OMG! I actually cried when I saw the auction vid! I'm sorry to say I have no cash to bid with but I wish you, LittleKuriboh, Marianne and the others good luck with it all! (I already left a message for Dan on the Guestbook and I've been keeping him and the Twins in my prayers.)

Congrats on getting the voice acting job! I'll see if I can find episodes on YT!

And good luck with TOME and Balancing Act! I'm sure they will be great works for you!

Ah, that Hatori. My mistake. TBH I think you're more suited as Yujiro anyway. Either way, good going.

Balancing Act sounds hilarious, and it's great to see you actually improving on TOME unlike some people who haven't improved at all. (Not going to mention names.) However, Do not bother with a fourth Nin10Doh!! By the way, here's someone I found that you'd probably like:
http://maelstormm.newgrounds.com

For the bg character's, will we get sent a picture of what they will look like TOME-ified so they can easily be found in the crowd? also, here's an idea for the series, make bgm characters that resemble the parody rangers or some other character from your work (or make it a brief character for an episode).

I've really been enjoying TOME; thanks for episode 2!
I've also been doing a little voice work around the internet. If you need an extra voice for future projects, I'd be happy to be a part of them!
