New Site! WOO! (Updated)

Posted by Kirbopher - June 30th, 2009

Real quick update. I've been workin' constantly on a billion different things, with a billion MORE things in the works, too. But in the midst of all this, I FINALLY managed to construct...

MY NEW SITE!

There's a few kinks that need to be worked out, but for the most part this is the final product. Made a new blog to go with it, so I'll probably be making updates from both here and there, starting now. Big thanks to Richie and Psy for the technical help. Maybe those've you who happen to read this and are pretty in-depth with actionscript, I had one main issue that came up of which we couldn't figure out. I tried setting up the "Animation section" to make little windows pop up that are the appropriate size of each movie (they're not all the same basic 550x400 proportions) when you clicked the buttons. I had a similar layout on my older site with the TTA Feature Movie, but apparantly the code is now defunct and just causes errors. If any of you guys happen to know a solution, please feel free to get in contact with me through e-mail, PM, or even just a comment here. Whatev. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anyway, back to work for me. Thanks for readin' and any feedback would be appreciated!

UPDATE (7/1/09): Okay, made some more adjustments. Changed the boring Times New Roman font to Verdana, added a little header to the site, fixed a few spelling and grammar issues...now my main problems lie in the actionscripting. Corey suggested making the links create a new tab instead of taking you right there, but I don't wanna make the wrong code and screw the whole thing up. If anyone knows the right actionscript, and/or knows the solution to my other problem about making the movies work, please lemme know! Thanks guys!

Congrats Kirbopher I'm a huge fan of your work and will be sure to check it out.

P.s. Wow TTA I never though I'd ever here those 3 letters referenced again -he'd let out an assholish laugh-

Awesome I love your stuff since 2007

congrats dude, keep up the good work.

congrats on the new site,it looks spiffy, clean and blue

awesome mints

yeah! KIRB!!!! U were wut got me into newgrounds, and im very happy to hear you made a new site :D

Why?

meh, think I liked kirbopher's warpstar better. I noticed you only uploaded your neo-c animations also. hopefully you'll upload your other stuff since there was stuff you had on your old site that aren't on newgrounds right now (like TTA intro's and the movie between episodes 47 and 48). hopefully when you work on it more you'll add seperate sections for each series you have the way you did on your old site.

wow kool website keep on rockin the asteroids man ¡¡¡
vig fan

Dang, nice site. In the four years I've been playing around with Flash, I've only managed to make, like, 15 cartoons... Kinda makes me wonder what I've been doing with my time... I gotta get me one o' them websites at some point. Hopefully whoever answers your query does so in a comment; I'd like to know how to do that, too.

I checked out your new site, not bad, I always did love your videos, funniest things I have ever seen at this website, keep up the good work dude and don't stop making em,Peace Out

It doesn't work.

1. Get a host that works outside of the US.

That's going to turn off many potential clients immediately. I had to sift through proxies just to get your site to load.

2. All flash sites are a bad, bad idea. I made one last year, but they've become so redundant and cheesy now.

People want to see a hybrid of flash and HTML.

Well Psy's basically hosting it for free, so with money still being tight I don't have much incentive to wanna get another host :/ HTML and coding in general I'm not incredibly experienced in to begin with, so this was why I went with the flash design instead. For the most part I think it gets its job done, regardless of if it seems "redundant".

Oh you're that guy I met at Wizard World. Howdy.

Yo!

Site looks fun, but one of the things I've learned at webdesign classes is to NEVER use something like Times New Roman as a main font. It's fine for headers and all that, but it's proven that these fonts read better on paper then on screen, that's why Arial and Verdana and such are usually reccommended.

Cool, I'll try those out. Thanks!

Its nice

Oh I do like your website. It's quite pleasant =3

Your new website is about 1000x easier to navigate, so that's a huge improvement. One thing about it though is that the typography just isn't good. I don't know if you've taken any classes about type at school, but it's pretty much a given that you shouldn't use Times New Roman for any reason. Employers know that it's generally the default typeface for programs, and look down upon it highly.

Also, with a site style like that you'd probably want to use a sans-serif font (this font is a sans-serif, it doesn't have extensions coming off the edges like Times). The buttons pseudo-3d look also seems a bit dated, and seems like something I'd see from websites in 1996.

I'm sure you don't give a shit about what I have to say, and will completely disregard this message, but I'm trying to be constructive. I have a Graphic Design degree, so I at least somewhat know what I'm talking about. I hope you at least consider it.

Hey notta problem. I'll play around with the font a bit more, thanks for the feedback!

Pretty cool site Kirb, Its also provided the knowledge on how to pronounce your surname right, but seriously, great site man

Haha, thanks. I don't "regret" making my username Kirbopher but if I could go back and make it something else from the beginning I'd definitely go with NEO-C.

Nice, dude. I really like the look of it and the little animations when clicking on links. You might think about having links open up in a new tab or window though, that'd be my only gripe. Awesome look. The constantly moving background is awesome.

Ya did have a few grammar errors in your "about me" though! DUN DUN DUN.

Whoops, more shit to clean up in that section. Ah well.

I think there's an actionscript code to make it a new tab, but I'm not sure.
